Tentang Leadgal
LeadGal is an Indonesian-based community initiative focusing on building girls and women’s leadership capability to contribute significantly to the legal world.
In its establishment, LeadGal focuses its activities on empowering girls with critical skills and knowledge to equipped them in transition to adulthood. In parallel, LeadGal also facilitate connection for girls with women role model in the legal arena.
We envision this activity will equip the girl (10-19yo) with life-skill and, at the same time, expose the girl to opt legal world as their future career.
LeadGal is powered by Anggraeni and Partners (AP), a law firm based in Jakarta, Indonesia, who believe that community outreach is an integral part of its practice.
There are 5 (five) things that underlie the existence of LeadGal, namely:
- Gender roles and gender construct
- Inequality and knowledge gaps
- Exposure to life options
- Protection of individual rights
- Avoid sexual molestation

To achieve the aspired goals, LeadGal carries out its role as a community by standing on 3 pillars:
- Educate – Provide a structured programme for girls in a critical transition to adulthood.
- Engage – Connect with community to raise awareness of the importance of girleadership.
- Expose – Provide girls with legal profession as options for their future career.
To achieve the objectives described above, the target participants we are targeting are female students at the junior high and high school levels with the age group of 11-19 years old.
The group of students of that age and level are our target participants because:
- This age is a transitional age. Awareness and logic have begun to form towards oneself and around.
- Adolescents have started to think about the aspirations or ideals they want to do in the future.
- The ability to observe has emerged.
Hence, we think it is appropriate to give these girls ideas and perspectives at this age.
In addition, related to inclusive communities for women, this age is also considered capable of knowing the desire to join.
LeadGal contributes with a commitment to providing long-term programs by providing modules and handbooks, training trainers, and engaging local communities in implementing these long-term programs.
LeadGal also provides an inclusive and empowering community as a platform for young women as participants to interact with volunteers and other contributors to the LeadGal program. LeadGal is committed to keeping the community environment supportive and a safe space for women who join. LeadGal will also provide a token of appreciation such as a pin or sash to members of the LeadGal community.
